To the BP Planners, has there been a location picked for next years BPCon?? Selfishly I would love it to be here in Denver but I understand that you guys need to branch it out over the country for the farthest reach.

I just look forward to going to one soon!

Thanks!

Wow taking dollars out of the US.  ?????

I too wondered why it's outside the US. It would seem like investors would want the conference here...more "local".

not everyone can get a passport either :)   now that this has grown I think Vegas would be an appropriate venue
Haha...it probably would be a great place to network. Some of the higher ups must be wanting a "business" trip to Cancun that can be written off. :D

It's my understanding that all attendees should be able to write this off. I recommend talking to your CPA, but it's my understanding that as long as it's not a cruise, education of this nature is a write off, regardless of the country :) Again, I highly recommend talking to your CPA to confirm how to go about this!

In general, travel for business(education, networking) is deductible if you are already in a trade or business(I.E. have a rental, flip).

There are unique rules to deduct foreign travel costs.
attendees may have a more difficult time writing off the cost of the trip if they add significant vacation days(no business) before or after the trip.
However, you can plan properly to make the trip 100% deductible.

it exactly what happened to me.. I have a client in London and I treated him to lunch at Harrods etc. And during the Audit the auditor thought my wife was buying gooddies for us personally and dissallowed anything related to the London Trip and the trip to Tel Aviv where again I have clients and had business meetings.. I was not trying to write the whole enchilada off just small portion for the time i spent with clients etc.. but the entire trip was dissallowed.  Also on Airfare learned a hard lesson to.. you must have paper receipts and boarding pass's to write them off.. copy of CC bill and or on line status report is no good. :(

Everything you get, stash in a little folder in your carry on. When you get home, print copies of them and stash the originals somewhere accessible. Keeping records is absolutely essential, you learn out of pain. I know I did, just brutal.

The Thompson or JW can't support this event?
