Detached Accessory Dwelling Unit (DADU) in Macon GA
Good Day all,
I have a property in Macon GA , a 1/4 acre of land with a house and a shed (brick foundation, wooden frame). I'm considering converting the shed into a DADU to maximize the use of the space and earn some extra income.
Anyone have an experience and/or advice on how to get this accomplished? Thank you in advance.
Hey @Dwayne Clarke
ADU's are awesome, but they do require careful management. I have one personally and I have found its better to rent the whole property vs. splitting it off and having a separate tenant with a separate lease. As far as getting it built, there are several questions that need to be answered first.
1. Do you want to build it to code and get it approved by the county? If the answer is no, be mindful this will create a more difficult sale when exiting the position down the road.
2. Do you have a a significant budget to get plumbing, electrical, mechanical, etc to the building?
3. Do you have contractors to get the job done?
